Food Ingredients

Over several decades and sometimes centuries, several so called “additives” have become mainstay food ingredients and are essential in the processing and manufacturing of ready-to-eat food products.  These additives/ingredients have several beneficial effects and are added to food in order to perform one or more of the following functions viz., (a) enhance nutritional value or health benefits; (b) modify consistency, structure, color or aesthetics; (c) enhance aroma or flavor; and (d) retain aroma or color and prolong shelf life.
